The Manteno Public Library District is offering a program called Reading Buddies, which aims to help children improve their reading skills and confidence. The program pairs children in kindergarten through fifth grade with students from the National Honor Society and Interact Club at Manteno High School.
According to the library, "This program provides a relaxing environment for children to practice their reading skills and build reading confidence. Our Reading Buddies are National Honor Society students and Interact Club members from Manteno High School."
Reading Buddies sessions are scheduled twice a month on Tuesdays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Registration is required for participation.
The initiative targets elementary school students and is designed to support literacy development by providing one-on-one or small group reading opportunities with older student mentors.
