Manteno - Philip Schouten, born on May 26, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away on June 22, 2025, in Manteno. He was a proud war hero and veteran of the Army. Losing both legs in combat in Okinawa at 18, he overcame immense challenges and opened an accounting firm. He was a devoted husband to Dorothy L. Schouten for 64 years until her passing in 2019.

Preceded in death by his son Vincent James, parents, sisters, and brother, Philip is survived by his children Kevin, Gwen, Christine, Vincent (Josephine Canchola-Schouten), and Ted (Dave Gervase), as well as 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A Catholic mass of burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manteno, followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery and a reception at the church. Visitation is scheduled at Brown Funeral Home in Manteno, with donations suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Philip Schouten.
