Illinois Libraries is offering a virtual presentation of "Little Women: The Musical" from December 20 to December 22. This production, in collaboration with BroadwayHD, allows audiences to experience the acclaimed musical adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's classic novel from home.
The musical, which originally premiered on Broadway in 2005 featuring Sutton Foster, had its London debut at Park Theatre. Lydia White and Savannah Stevenson lead the cast in this story of family and self-discovery set in 19th-century Massachusetts.
The production is directed by Bronagh Lagan with contributions from Nik Corrall for set and costume design, Leo Munby for musical direction, Andy Collyer for orchestrations, Sarah Golding for choreography, Ben M. Rogers for lighting design, Paul Gavin for sound design, and Jane Deitch for casting. It is produced by Katy Lipson for Aria Entertainment along with Hope Mill Theatre and Knockhardy Productions. The co-producers are Bonnie Comley and Stewart F. Lane.
The book is written by Allan Knee, known for works like "Finding Neverland," with lyrics by Mindi Dickstein and music composed by Grammy Award-winner Jason Howland.
