Manteno Elementary School reported that 62.6% of its students failed the mathematics portion of the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) test in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.

These students did not meet the required standards of the test, compared to the 37.4% who did.

The total number of Manteno Elementary School students who failed their mathematics assessments fell by 13% from the previous school year.

Manteno Elementary School is located within Manteno Community Unit School District 5, which roughly covers three schools and has a main office in Manteno.

The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) assesses the progress of students in grades 3-8 in meeting the Illinois Learning Standards in English language arts and mathematics.

The percentage of fourth-grade and eighth-grade public school students performing at or above the NAEP Proficient level in reading in Illinois was not significantly different from the National level, according to the National Center for Education and Statistics.

A study conducted in December 2021 by the Institute of Education Sciences showed that students in grades 4-8 scored less in math than expected after the outbreak of the pandemic. More significant expected changes in learning occurred in grades 6-8 than in grades 4 and 5.

Assessment participation rates (all subjects, applicable groups) in 2023 are at or above the 95% testing threshold, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.
